This time around I will stick to the spirit of the contest and not vote for myself. I don't expect to win this time around but I hope it gets some votes at least. hehe!! This was my first build and I'm so proud of it.

I must say that is a masterpeice mully.  I am a sucker for that color and I love the natural masking.  I also like the trans finish on the alder.

It is guitars like that that made me start doing this contest in the 1st place.

Damn it...I was also set to vote for line6man but now my vote it divided.  This is going to take some thought.

Well, man, thanks for the compliments. I really appreciate it. Since this was my first build I sat here for the longest time trying to decide what I wanted. I would check the Warmoth page every week to see what was new and I knew in my heart that when I saw the right one I'd know it. At that time this was the only Cherryburst with the natural binding. It jumped off the page at me and I had to have it. The neck was full order.

You go on and vote with your heart, man. If it's for line6man so be it. He's got one helluva killer looking bass right there that deserves every vote it gets. Have you ever thought of maybe doing a separate contest for basses or are there not enough bass players around here?

You answered the question...I think it would be short lived because of the number of active bass players on the forum.  The thing that strikes me as odd is I see some awesome build threads, but the basses never seem to make it into the contest.  That is why I was so happy to see two basses this month.

I think the banner on the homepage with the winners is helping bring attention to the contest.  We have had a lot of submissions the past few months.  I look forward every month to see the works of art everyone comes up with.  My only issue with running the contest is it really gives me serious GAS!!!!!

Perhaps a bass contest every second or third month?
Maybe a bass of the year?
Bass of the decade?
Give us something. :blob7:

I don't see why we would need a separate contest for bass players. And I say this as a 100% bass player.
Musically there are differences but in the end we're judging a body, a neck, hardware and paint. The best combination wins.

The problem is, we get very few bass entrees, and very few bass votes.

Maybe they've been just not that special so far. People here generally like spectacular tops, bindings, outrageous paint jobs etcetera and fewer than a few bass entries have been like that.

I'd be up for a bass build contest every 3 months.  I realize that we bassists are in the minority here, but I'm okay with that. :)

I have several beautiful Warmoth basses, but as with most of my guitars, they're solid finishes, so I don't bother entering.  I generally like how the solid colors showcase the neck/fretboard woods, and that puts me in a minority, lol.  Mully dominated that assumption with the natural masking binding machine of pure sex.

I think there are plenty of great basses here with awesome woods and tops/finishes.
Even if the basses around here are not as spectacular as the guitars, they are still awesome in their own right, and at least once in a while deserve to win a contest.

Oh come on, there's enough room up there for a picture of someone's pretty bass. Why not guitar of the month and bass of the month every month.
