Applying Wax - some questions

After all the oil finishes are dry and I am ready to put on a coat or 2 of wax, what is the best way to apply it to get that really nice finish?

Do you all use some sort of hand held orbital or can you get that nice glossy finish by hand?

I'll be using Butchers Bowling Alley Wax (clear) if that makes a difference in application.

You should be able to buff it out by hand with a soft piece of clean cotton.  Old t shirts that have been washed work quite well.

The key is not to put too much product on just enough to do the job.
