Anyone had problems fitting single coil pickup into pickup ring?

I bought a chrome single coil pickup ring - I think it was either from Warmoth or StewMac. But when I tried putting an old cover in, the hole was slightly too small for the cover. So I'm not sure if I accidentally got a tele ring, or that the size isn't standardized for all pickups, but that doesn't seem likely, and the cover I had looked normal size.

Do the screws that mount the pup line-up ?
Don't think Warmoth sell those, so stewmac probably.

Tele is smaller than the strat.

The pup mount screw to the mount ring screw is farther away from each other on a Tele one than the strat is.

I figured out the problem last night. The pickup covers I was going to use were from an old Cort Steinberger and they were just a hair bigger than a standard single coil like a DiMarzio. It wouldn't go through at all, not even for a tight fit. But the DiMarzio fit just fine, even though they looked the same.
