Anyone ever finish the inside of the "F" hole cavity?

thats strange....I thought all "Gibsonesque" headstocks were 24.75"  :dontknow:
Thanks though
Warmoth makes all their bodies routed for the 25.5 scale and their "regular" scale neck too (probably out of simplicity since the majority of their work is Strats and Teles and that's the Fender scale). Then, as Cagey stated, if you want a different scale, they make the "conversion" neck to go with the 25.5 scale body, regardless of which headstock shape you choose. They used to make a standard scale 24.75 neck (I have one), but they stopped that, obviously because they had to make bodies routed to that scale too. They will route a body 24.75 for you, but there's a $50 upcharge.

Since I'm here, I'll answer for him. Yes, it will fit. A warmoth neck fits a Warmoth body, regardless of which headstock shape or scale. Here's some pics of one of my VIPs when I had a 24.75 conversion neck with Explorer headstock, and another of an LP I built with a "regular" scale 25.5 w/ Explorer headstock. Both the opposite scale of what's actually on a PRS or Gibson, both with Explorer headstocks- it's just a shape...

So....Mr. Cagey, just to clarify...and I thank you for your patience....this Explorer neck should fit this VIP body (in the picture).

Yup. You're good to go. Shadowhand has it right.

For the user, it's pretty convenient. Lets you order pretty much whatever you want, and later if you change your mind the solution just bolts on. For Warmoth, they don't have to build/stock a wide variety of parts. They all work together.

Except for the 7/8 sized stuff. It's an oddball.

As with anything, there are slight exceptions to the rule. If you get an older neck there can be slight variation, probably due to changes in machinery over the years. I got an 80s era neck off ebay and had to sand it a bit to fit a newer body. Also, Warmoth makes their neck heels with the Strat (rounded) and Tele (squared) profiles http://www.warmoth.com/Guitar/Necks/faq2.aspx , so fitting a tele heel in a strat neck rout or vice versa presents some issues, but your pic looks like strat/strat rout, so as Cagey said, you're good to go. Just bolt that sucker up and see!  :cool01:

Awwwwwww yeeeeeeah!!!!
Thanks guys.

I had a hunch that these might just very well be compatible, but I had the old Fender-25.5" PRS 25" Gibson 24.74" scale lengths burned into my brain, and when I put these two together (without screws) and laid them down in the case, they didn't fit! So I wrote them off as 2 guitar projects in the works...

:evil4: But now I think it's time to take a trip to the ol' GC and order an RB Continental case!

Check out the video on the right...3 STORIES! HOLY CRAP!

Also, What do you guys think of SD Phat Cat pickups? (Too dark with the mahogany?) I was also thinking maybe "LiquiFire" (based soley on the name of the pickup and the color combination of the body finish) but I really like the sound of two single coils together, ("tapped?")  :toothy10:

Nice looking case, but I'd be curious to know what happened if that toss would've landed headstock end into the ground first. Funny, that reminded me of the old American Tourister luggage ad with the gorilla from the 70s.

I don't think Phat Cats are dark at all, since it's a P90 in HB size. I actually think they're kinda punchy, as seen (or heard) here...

Know nothing about the Liquifire though, I'll have to check those out.

By the way, if you like the single coil tapped sound in a HB, check out Seymour Duncan's Stag Mag.

well..... :dontknow: I really don't even know what I like anymore.
I mean c'mon, great guitar tones can be heard in every genre from every different type of pickup, amp, guitar, pedal, generation, you name it!

I find it odd that one of my professors used single coils almost exclusively by themselves in a strat for neoclassical shred, whereas I prefer the 2/4 tapped sound and still...lessons were a blast!

I generally like big, w-i-d-e open tone, clear and articulate, chock full of chiming harmonics, with bent notes wailing into the stratosphere and tailing off into a firey feedback of sweet, smokey sonic bloom.  :laughing7:

I'm not a shredder, but I certainly wouldn't mind being able to add that kind of technique and finesse into my melodies (Shrug).

I guess I'd like to narrow my tools down a bit and have one main  :guitarplayer2: "Go To" guitar that has three things: Comfort/Playability, Great Tone, Versatility.

Thanks for listening!  :toothy12:

[EDIT: Lets not forget the *player!* doh!)

I checked out the Stag Mag.
Had this been a year ago I could have added another animal to guitar theme!  :laughing7:

Stag Mag is under High output, and Phat Cats are under Vintage output....might be too powerful...
I also considered the P-Rails (cause my baby has 2 push pulls) but do not want to add any more switches...

Was also considering an APH-1 Signature Series Humbucker if they can custom make one that is splittable. Can't let these push-pulls go to waste...hmmm maybe bridge Phat Cat will be quiet and purr instead of hiss....

Was curious Mr. Shadowhand who the guitar player is in your profile picture. Not the Silver Surfer I see!

That's "The Octopus" Tal Farlow!

I would like to match the inside of the 'f' hole on this VIP body with the inside of the pickup cavities on this VIP body. Are you guys at liberty to reveal the type of stain/finish you use?

That's just what raw Mahogany with clear coat over it looks like. The material is polyurethane, but it wouldn't matter.

I like the way mahogany looks with clear coat.
What is the *best* stuff? (I will probably only need the smallest container of whoevers brand is the best)
I want to treat my baby with the best stuff on the market.
She is *EXTRA* Special!  :cool01: :guitarplayer2: :headbang1:

Everytime I see this thread I want to reply with something like..."No. But I once spackled the inside of an A-hole" or something childish along those lines.
