Any tips about Oil finish?

Hello, I ordered unfinished Dinky J body and neck. My goal is a black oil finish without hiding grain.  I could ask local luthier to do it for me but it costs more than I expected so I want to do the finish by myself. I'm thinking of using Shellac as a primer. About 2 times. Use color tone liquid stain to make black color more vivid. And end with Restol wood oil for final finish.
But I have some questions about this process.

1. unfinished Warmoth woods are finished with 220 grit sandpaper. Then, Do I have to do the sanding before shellac or It doesn't necessary?
2. Which steps do require a sanding?
3. Since I don't want any gloss rather, I want matte satin texture. In this case do I need a clear coat or tung oil layer would be enough?

Is there any advice or tips, everything is welcome. Thanks

Stain first.  You will do best with alcohol based stain. Shellac should not be used under oil finish. It will seal wood, preventing oil penetration.  For oil, I prefer PURE tung oil, not stuff from big box stores.  Dries slowe but is a great finish.  Sanding is minimal.  Alcohol will barely raise grain.  Oil should be well thinned for first coat.... Which should be wet for a long time.... 15 mins or so .... Then wiped dry.  No sanding needed... Except very light sanding before final coat.
