I'm currently working on a bass project, and was planning on a P/J set of EMG40's. However, lately I've been going back and fourth on a set of Dingwall FD-3 pickups for an all-passive design. I've played a couple of Dingwalls and been very impressed, but I don't know how much of that sound was the wood and scale design, and how much was the pickups.
