Another (very stupid) question!

All right, so I have my David Gilmour inspired stratocaster that I made out of Warmoth parts. (Sorry Tonar, here's the bitch of it) I have a body for it coming that my parents ordered as a surprise gift about a month back. 3 tone Sunburst strat body, nitrocellulose finish. Vintage style Sunburst, if the guy listened to what my dad told him at all. So I am thinking before starting the Telecaster I should order a neck with Rosewood for said body, as I find the match much much better than maple/3tone. Could I, for the sake of keeping the neck under string tension and being able to play it, put it on my telecasters body? I have a pretty terrible Strat body lying around somewhere that I could place it on with a POS bridge to keep it stringer, but have no extra strat parts (pickups etc etc). Either way I have SOMETHING to mount it to, but yeah. Thought I would ask!

Also, does the warmoth Nitro neck finish go on as thin as possible? I would really like it to wear out over time (Not relicing, but actual play wear.) Thanks for yet more input, guys! :cool01:

EDIT: To mount up further evidence of my lack of experimentation with Warmoth to date... Even though it's for a Vintage-style strat (I'll go with regular tuners on this I think) should I go Warmoth Pro or Vintage Modern? I know a lot of people here dig the Warmoth Pro, but it rather intimidates me from an adjustment standpoint, as I am very very used to a normal truss rod. If it helps, it would be a simple maple/rosewood (maybe quartersawn maple) with SS6230.

Really unless you just want to, you don't have to mount the neck right away, if that's what you're getting at. It can sit around for ages as long as the truss rod is loose. So that there's no tension on it at all. Not sure how thick the nitro is, but it will take quite a while to wear thru it, I have a body with satin nitro finish, and all it's done so far is turn shinny in the spots where my arm rests on the body. Mostly the edges...If that helps... :dontknow:

Yeah, I'm just really lazy and didn't wanna loosen it up. Might just do that, though. To Warmoth Pro or not to Warmoth Pro, that is the question. Whether 'tis nobler in the mind.... you get the point.

Warmoth "Pro" necks are remarkably stable, which is one of the reasons they're so popular. As for difficulty in adjustment, there's nothing to it. It's actually easier than the traditional style truss rod. But, chances are pretty good you won't be doing much adjusting, if at all, once the thing is set where it needs to be. We just went through some pretty wild temperature/humidity fluctuations here over the last couple/few weeks, and none of my necks moved. So, call me a fan. It's the only style neck I'd buy from them if given a choice.
