Another option on the W Jazz Bass pickguard?

What I am suggesting is that W offer an option on the Jazz Bass pickguard that would allow one to order it with an extension/appendage that would take the place of the traditional Jazz Bass control plate. -With mounting screw holes in some of the plate's corresponding locations so that it is a direct replacement that requires little to no drilling to switch from one to another. -With options for some/all/none of the control holes.

I realize this is opening a can of worms; before ya know it, if they do this for us J-bass buffs, all the guitar builders will want the same thing for their Jag's and 'stangs... hell even the tele buffs will be like "I want my pickguard to have one of those thingies!"... but I want what I want. So I'm asking.

I've always thought the Jazz Bass/Mustang/Jaguar-type things, with the mixed metal/pickguard areas, look incomplete, or even half-assed - but it's a design that's a direct result of mass production, where different units end up all connected only at the very end. And it does make it a lot easier to work on one part and not another, in fact the biggest complaint about Stratocasters is having to demolish the whole thing just to check on/change one little wire. But P=basses & Strats look more "finished" at the end.... The only saving grace is, making pickguards is easy, in fact the big problem people have it's it's just too easy - that plastic cuts and sands so quickly that people always overgaak a pickguard, never undergaak it. I've seen a few Jazzes where the metal plate is replaced by pickguard material that matches the other, it's an elegant solution to a crucial, near-life-threatening problem. (I think Jazz basses with just the plate and no pickguard just look retarded, sorry Jaco. :sad1:)

-Agreed on the plate/no-pickguard look. *puke* (Exception: Telecasters can get away with it all day long.)

But, yeah... that is what I'm looking for, a more put-together flow to the J design. Sure, it would be a relatively easy thing for one to cut out and fab-up for themselves, but if W is willing (-for a $10 up-charge, no doubt), then I'd appreciate taking advantage of that.
