Is this just transparent red on flame maple and alder or is it a special darker type of transparent red?

Front looks like it was dyed black then washed/sanded back before the trans red was shot; if the back is indeed alder that looks WAY darker than regular trans red on that wood

I agree. I'm saving this picture as an idea for the finish of my next G4. I want it like my new one, with a maple body and a Schaller 463 bridge.
