Alpine White CTV Body Mockups

I can't stop looking at Updown's Strat (http://unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=19269.0).  I have more than enough Strat-shaped guitars, but that color and wood combo is compelling!

I decided to hit the builder and came up with a CTV that is inspired by the aforementioned Strat.


*Mahogany Carved Top Velocity
*HSS
*Alpine White front/back
*Black front binding
*TOM/STP route (No string through available on CT, no binding available on FT  :sad1 - Gotoh 510 TOM/STP

Edit: I am going with D, but C is calling my name, too!

So many options...doesn't make choosing easy. Still there's nothing like a unique and well thought out guitar coming together. I'm still torn between my original idea and this one. In a strange way, i feel as though I'd be plagiarizing the white/black Strat!  May have to go back to the drawing board and push the envelope on this one. Damn your guitar updown!

Stratamania, hopefully the poor sales guys at warmoth won't blacklist me. I have a feeling my emails will soon be routed into the "special folder" if I don't make my mind up!

Updated original post.  Stuck on options C and D!  Leaning towards D, but man - C is looking cool.  Can't wait to get the shipping notification.

I quite like C as it keeps the simplicity of black and white. Though D works too.

My vote goes for A. If you are going to chrome cover the bridge pickup, then the neck pickup should match. And as far as the mounting ring goes, a direct mount just seems cleaner. I also think this is one of the few times that zebra coils actually work very well.

I love direct mount, as well. 

The only hitch is I don't want the majority of the pickup hanging out of the body to get it close to the strings; seeing the tape around the edges bothers me for some reason -the TOM is not recessed, so the strings are up there like power lines.  If I end up having to use a ring, I'm going to get a covered pickup to minimize all the empty space between the mount and pickup, which also bothers me heh. The direct mount/zebra scenario would really play out well if the bridge was recessed.
