Maple body, maple on maple neck, P/J EMG Select pups...
What do you all think of this? I have only ever played one all maple bass before, but it wasn't P/J, and I can't really hear this sound in my head.

I would be going EMG Select because I am buying two basses in the next two months, and so this third one would have to be on the cheap side.
All in, this bass would cost me about $800 which would be freaking sweet if it sounded decent.

Weight would be the only issue. I just finished watching "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" on TCM, you might end up looking like Charles Laughton.

I prefer Maple/Maple/Maple for guitars. It sounds more full, rounded. And cosmetically looks great too !
should'nt be much different than a bass.

I don't think it would be that big of an issue with a fretless for me.
I can't imagine myself playing this fretless at a gig for more then one song at a time...if I ever was in a band that demanded me to play it for a full 45 set (or more), then I would be able to justify spending more money on the build.
I have a feeling it is the stupid weight that the body I am eying has been sitting there so long, which is why it is cheap and would allow me to go ahead with doing this.

yep, 7 pounds make for a bass body that dont sell well in the showcase. Add a 3 pound maple neck and another 2+ pounds of hardware and you lookin at a very heavy bass that would not be comfortable to play standing up. This is why I sold my Gibson Ripper.

As stated - you'll probably wear it so little...weight shouldn't be a factor. The looks/sound (with the right strings) should be excellent  :guitaristgif:
