There's a possibility you may have a microphonic preamp t00b in your amp.

Start at V1, replace with a spare - move on down the line if that ain't the one.

It's true that I don't have high quality cables. So I'll probably trust Carvin's craftsmanship over my cables. But still: I play in my bedroom, I don't have any musician friends in  my area, no gigs. I'll get through some interference with my guitar volume off.

It doesn't matter where you play. A strong or nearby AM radio station can be picked up and decoded with a set of braces on your teeth. It's that easy. There aren't a whole lot of those left these days, but it used to be a fairly common problem.

Can imagine two teenagers back in the 70s, about to 'lock braces' for the first time in the back seat of the car and suddenly there's "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" blasting out from somewhere!  :doh:  :laughing7:
