Let's see some, Warmoth! It's my new favorite dark wood. Works and sands well, and takes a fine polish. I could see it making an excellent Gaboon Ebony alternative (aesthetically), provided it's reasonably durable and sounds ok.

Anyone else agree?

As LMII says,
Sorry, this item is currently unavailable.
I think we're in a situation where a hip trendy luthier uncovers a hip trendy wood, all of a sudden, everybody's got to have it, then it goes away, then somebody uncovers another hip trendy wood. There probably are African Blackwood trees galore, but it will take another coup d'etat, a new "minister" of "trade", some minor or major upheaval somewhere or another.... if one were to assume that there will always be trendoids sniffing after the hip new wood(s), speculating in weird timber might even be an interesting living! Reading between the lines, it would seem that there are actually quite a few woods that can be used to make guitars - but the mojo is ever-so-variant.

I'm not sure if it's a "trendy wood" for luthiers, but I don't really care. After having worked with it recently, I really like it. I might even see if Warmoth would be up for using customer-supplied wood, if I can find a piece for my next fretted neck. I just think it would be cool if Warmoth put a few pieces in the unique choice gallery.

I could dig a fretboard out of it for a strat build, though I would prefer Brazilian rosewood for aesthetic. Definitely sexy, though. I've got wood.  :cool01:
