advice for building a Roland G-707 style body?

I'm considering making a body from a blank and basing the design on the body of the Roland G-707 (and pairing it with a slapshot neck). Basically, I just really like the look of the G-707, and I think it would be cool for a non-midi enabled guitar.

I wouldn't want to include the stabilizing bar that comes on the G-707. So, I'm wondering, does that stabilizing bar really *stabilize* the guitar, physically, all that much? Without it, would I be building a guitar that would be impossible to hold, constantly falling over while I'm standing up with it?

Obviously I know that a G-707 style body would not be the most ergonomic while sitting down, but would this be unruly while standing?

Had this idea once myself, never carried through. Go for it. Personally, I think the bar looks cool (it's angled away from the surface of the fingerboard for sightlines when playing). I can't remember what Roland said about the purpose of the bar (I think Ibanez built them).

The purpose of the stabilising bar was to aid the tracking and pitch stability to avoid glitches and the like.  I also liked how it added to the overall look of the guitar. To my eyes, without the bar, the overall look would not be quite the same.
