I have just ordered the first parts for my new strat project..
I was first planning to build a copy of Dave Murray's strat, but since I don't have any "classic" strat with singlecoils, I went for this one first.

Specs:
- Alder body - white
- Flame maple w/ rosewood fretboard - vintge tint

- Tortoise pickguard
- Lindy Fralin Hot Vintage pickups
- White knobs and pickupcovers

Golden hardware
- Wilkinson VS100
- Schaller Mini Locking Tuners

I have ordered the pickguard and the electronics, just to get started  :blob7:

Yeah, have been thinking about it. I have a couple of cream knobs and covers from my old fender strat I once had, so I can compare them and see what looks best.

I think I'll go with alpine white or perhaps flame maple with Mary Kay finish.

What kind of string nut works best? I'm not sure if I'll go for the LSR.. Any suggestions?

NOW we're talking about! I'd send first the body to Tonar8353 finish it on his now WORLD FAMOUS Mary Kay finish!

Bone! Or Graph Tech TUSQ (the white one)

How do they work with a tremolo system? My experience with bone, is that it doesn't stay in tune after using the tremolo. Haven't tried the graphteck yet.

It's all about the quality of the nut... if you get the best material with poor job, it will be :tard: if you get bone done by a good luthier, it'll be good...
These Graphtech has better slippery but change the tone a little and if you like low action you'll have to low the nut slots too IIRC...

I have to see how much money I'll be able to spend on this project. We don't earn big money in the army, if you know what I mean

I'm not sure bout the pickguard, so I ordered tortoise, black pearl and white pearl pickguards. I was also thinkin' bout putting a black pearl pickguard on my Candy Tangerine superstrat, but I have to see how it looks compared to the white one that's allready on it.

Ah you said you would go with the Body Builder, perhaps you should get something on showcase (lots of Alder or Swamp Ash Strat body) and ask them to just finish it, if you don't go to Tonar's finish... will be faster to get it
