A little joke question... or not?

A question a little stupid perhaps, but I have seen some guitars and heard some guitarists' opinions that .... I do not know what I must think  :icon_scratch:

Fitting a vintage 6holes tremolo, you choose:
- tuning machines that you prefer (Schaller, Sperzel, Planet, etc..)
- or **only** vintage style?

For me it's a very stupid question, I choose always the best machines (imho) but I have seen many guitars with vintage style tuners and modern tremolos (Wilkinson vsvg or vs100N, Gotoh TS510 etc..) but never vintage tremolo and no vintage tuners...
Curious or not?

I started with regular tuners & a 6 point trem, I have changed them both.
I now use Schaller locking tuners and a Boogie Rail (replacement for 6 point)

I replaced the tuners (and the neck) before getting the bridge.  Both have been excellent changes, and I couldn't imagine voluntarily changing either of them back.

In any case, it is curious that many guitarists are victim of aesthetic choices and non-functional choises... (IMHO of course)

I have a black strat I built. 6 point Callaham tremolo (love it!) and Schaller locking tuners. Went with a white corian nut, but have no tuning issues except after MANY abuses of said tremolo.

I can *recycle* (from a guitar that now I hate...) a set of Sperzel T/L  - for my 2nd warmoth project -
Sperzel T/L + Gotoh ge101 tremolo (vintage 6 holes).
What do you think?
A good idea or kluson vinatge style tuners (like gotoh sd91) are better?

(I like very well modern and traditional style togheter: vintage tremolo with emg sa pickup)

Solves your problem. My guitar with a vintage trem has schallers, though. I'd probably use the ones above if I were making it from scratch, but it's a parts bin axe-turned-main player and you don't mess with success.

but my *problem* is not lock system or look style fashion
I would recycle sperzel T/L and overall I don't want spend other money  :binkybaby:

If you're determined to use parts out of your spare parts drawer, why ask what is better? You're going to use what you have anyway.

Here's my opinion: Use the Sperzels - they're good parts and are the standard by which all others are judged. Lose the Fender-style 6 point bridge - they're not good parts. They have a consistency problem in that they usually don't return to neutral reliably because there are friction and alignment issues. With a lot of setup work and a lot of attention when re-stringing, they can be made to work for a while. But, the two-point knife-edge fulcrum that you see on every good vibrato bridge design (see Wilkinson, Floyd Rose, Fender AmStd, Gotoh, Schaller, PRS et al) is much better. You don't need to think about it, it just works and it works reliably for a long time.
