Nope.  Once again, 3 P-90s and 5 way blade in upper horn.  Is it possible I saw what I saw?
It's quite possible, but as the owner of a EBMM EVH sig I spent a lot of time researching about them and have never seen one with 3 P90's outside the Axis series. But that doesn't mean it doesn't exist... :dontknow:

I only saw it once, and that's why it stuck out.  I thought, "There's something you don't see everyday."  It was after the For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge years, and he was still playing the EBMMs, so the Axis series was not yet around.

The Axis was actually around before EVH got a hold of it, it actually started life as the Albert Lee sig. So EB already had the basics of the guitar produced, Eddie just moved some bits around to suit himself, and the neck profile was changed. So it's possible what you saw could have been an early Albert Lee model... :dontknow:

So, I got this thing in the mail today, and I know TT got his last week.  I'm REALLY impressed by how good an instrument this is, especially for 250 bucks.  It's not noisy (which I didn't expect), and the pickups sound GREAT.  I've been sitting here jamming with two buddies, and it cuts through just like you'd want it to.  The first thign I did as play TotD's "Say Hello to Heaven" from front to back, and it was really tasty.  Honestly, if it said "Fender"  I'd pay 800-1000 for it.  The neck is comfortably beefy, and the weird satin finish really compliments it nicely.  I'm considering not replacing the neck at all.  Ffs, this thing came intonated and in tune, hahaha.  I sat down with my strobe tuner, and it was dead on... I've never had a guitar that didn't need intonating.

It's not perfect, though.  It totally needs a new nut and a bit of minor fretwork, though the edges are rolled nicely.  There is some glue from installing a fret that wasn't cleaned up on the 20th fret (fingernail fixed~), and it came with a pre-loaded pickguard scratch (through the plastic).

All in all, I would feel like I got a good deal at twice the price, and would certainly pay 3 times the price.  If you guys are looking for a fun P-90 guitar to fool around with, this will not do you wrong.  Best 250 (shipped) that I've ever spent.  This is a lot of win for the money.  I would play this at a gig tomorrow after tweaking the nut.  It feels like a solid roots rock machine.  Even my wife was impressed by the tonal colors that came out of it.  She said, "I see why you needed this.  It has a uniquely warm, punchy sound that's not like the other Teles, Strats or the Les Paul."

Yep, I was surprised as well for the bucks. Mine also came perfectly intonated and the neck was dead flat, which is how I was going to set it up. So I was impressed with that.

The neck is a problem for me. To me it seemed small, but most Fender necks do, that's why I get Warmoths. I am not a fan of the satin finish though it's not terrible. I may change my indifference to it after playing it more. There is a finish flaw where your forearm rest but from a yard or two back you don't see it. The pickguard was in fine shape. I hate the fact it comes with the tallest tuners I have ever seen!!! and it uses two string trees which I really don't like. I have bypassed the one for the D and G strings. It needs nut work for sure. It's also kinda heavy.

The Duncan Design pickups were nice though they didn't last long. They were quickly yanked to to be replaced with some top secret pickups. :laughing7:

I will be taking this to a blues jam (open mic) session tonight. It's a demo guitar and it will be properly abused and passed around tonight! We'll see how the guitar holds up. So far it does sound great and that is what matters. The rest of it can be adjusted to taste.

I can't wait for the Road house P90's.  I have a couple of uses for some of them and will be anxiously awaiting the reports on them.  As far as the 3 P90 guitar that Ed used, I would guess it does exist after finding this picture

But it is not a EBMM, it is a Peavey I think.  It was found at vintagekramer.com
