I thought I'd start my build thread and so I've given it an appropriate name and now want to share some info on some hardware that I've ordered.

It will probably be another ten weeks before I get the body. Perhaps sooner for the neck to arrive since that was one I picked from their shop.

But since I will need some hardware I've now ordered, among other things, these:
Gotoh locking staggered tuners:

and some Bourns 500k pots:

To be continued ...

And now I've also completed my order for two pickups:

complete with white covers ...

No, I've actually found some humcancelled P90's (stacked) that I'll get. But they are out of stock at the moment.
And the retailer had also gotten white P90 covers that I'll get for them. So that means that I might have to get a third pickguard to match them.
We'll see what happens ...

Woohoo! When I woke this morning I found an email from UPS saying two packages is on it's way! Should be here on wednesday. I'll have to reschedule the delivery though, since I won't be home until friday, but still, woohoo!
I had expected 4-6 + 4-6 weeks ie 8-12 weeks before it would ship/arrive, but this has only been around 7 weeks.

I'm so excited.

More to follow ...

I had the opportunity to do a little work on my build yesterday. Specifically, adding the tuners, which are Gotoh staggered locking ones.

The neck was ordered for Gotoh tuners, but I got the impression that these new ones were of a slightly different diameter, since they fitted without any problems. It actually seemed that the holes drilled for these were slightly, teeny tiny larger than the tuners.

Positioning them on the headstock:

Tightening the locking nuts:

Staggered heights 3+2+1:

It's probably a trick of the mind since the neck isn't yet attached to the body, but adding the tuners felt like the neck became at least twice as heavy. Or perhaps these Gotoh tuners are extra heavy?

Got more done today.

Tomorrow I'll try to get some wiring done.

Thanks Frank.

I actually have made more progress today, but it's late so the proof of it will be posted tomorrow.
There's not much left to do before it's finished (some more wiring and screwing the pickguard in place), but since I'm leaving for work and going out of town for four days I have to complete everything when I'm back again on friday.

But I've had some time playing with it and it's amazing. A real shred machine. It almost plays itself.  :toothy10:

Did most of the wiring yesterday:

But most importantly, I strung her up and had a chance to play with her.
Wow, it feels good!  :toothy10: :toothy10: :toothy10:

Unfortunately I wont be able to do the last bit until friday. Can't wait. It's going to be awesome.

Nice work.  I have come to admire nice wiring.  Mine always looks like a birds nest.

Looks good so far.

I've noticed that too that tuners seem to add some weight to a neck on its own, but once on the body it tends to be neither here nor there.

Thank you DMRACO.
I know what you mean. At the beginning of the wiring things look ok, but at the end something seem to happen and it's like there are suddenly three million cables going everywhere  :laughing7: Although in this guitar things went pretty well and looks pretty clean. More images will follow.

Yes, once the neck got attached to the body, the weight was no longer an issue. Everything feels normal. Of course if you had a really, really light body, one might end up with a neck heavy guitar.  :o

A Strat's forward strap lug is so far ahead of the center of gravity that neck dive is never an issue with that design.

Plus, there's surprisingly little difference between tuner weights. Some of the more modern designs look heavier, but they're usually using die-cast housings which are typically either aluminum or zinc.

I'm sure you're right Cagey.
Most tuners probably differs very little in weight. Maybe except for these small rascals by Gotoh:

They look like they don't weigh anything :laughing7:

She's finished! Well this version anyway (I got two more pickguards but haven't done the wiring/got pickups for them yet).

I also shot a very quick video with my phone so the sound is what it is ...  :laughing7:

Getting some awesome tones out of that thing, looks super clean as well! Nice build so far, enjoy it.

Thanks rapfohl09 and Axkoa
Yes, I'm very happy with it and anyone that need a slightly smaller body/neck should definitely try out Warmoth's 7/8 models.  :guitaristgif:
