has anyone out there used 6130 fret wire on a strat or tele neck? i know its low and used on gibsons alot,,just wondering how it sets up and feels  on a strat...you can fret out alot on bends,?,I, had a few lp's,, bend the hell out of the strings,, did not fret out much..

The neck radius will have more to do with fretting out, than the frets themselves. Smaller/tighter radius will fret out more easily. So if you don't go too tight on the radius, you should be fine.

What DbU said.

I found the 6130s were enjoyable for chording, but I couldn't stand them for lead playing; it was hard (for me) to get under the strings for deep bends.  I went with 6150s for my later builds to fix this issue.

The reason why I initially chose the 6130s was due to their shape - I can't stand feeling railroad ties when I'm sliding up or down a string.  The 6150s have the same slick feel for slides, but allow me to really dig in for heavy bending.

HTH,

Don't forget, the way you set up the guitar makes a difference too. Low string action frets out sooner than higher string action.  :icon_thumright:

6130 is my favorite but I don't do any two-step bends or anything. I think it's a bit easier to stay in tune wplaying chords with lower frets. They are not "fretless wonder" type low or anything. There is no reason at all a small fret would fret out more than a taller fret. Why would the distance from the fretboard matter in terms of fretting out? The radius is unaffected. Just get a good fret job.

I prefer the 6130's myself and order them on most of my necks; never have any issues bending notes...
Ditto, first neck I ever got I went with the 6105's, but found i like the 6130's better..

Ever play on a 1 3/4"?  I have one on a wolfgang contour.  She was a lil' beastly, but easy to get used to.
