57mm neck pocket on body

I've recently come across an alder/quilt maple body that I like aesthetically, but one that has a 57mm (2 1/4") neck pocket, which I'm finding is somewhat difficult to find replacement necks for.  Warmoth, and apparently most parts companies, offer necks with 2 3/16" neck heels.  If I buy a Warmoth neck, can I simply shim each side by 1/32" and slap it on-providing the fit is tight and the screws match up?  If so, what material is ideal to shim with?

Thanks!

I just ordered a body with a 57 mm wide neck pocket. I already have a Warmoth neck. Shimming each side should work (not sure what material I would use). The important thing is making sure the scale length of the body and neck are compatible in order to properly intonate the guitar...

There seem to be a few Strat and Tele bodies available on UK Ebay with 56-57mm neck pockets; as MedianMusic says it might not be too hard to shim them, but I'd be concerned about the scale length being right.
