3 Color Urethane Finished Guitar

Just completed assembling my new DIY Hybrid Axe!

• Ibanez RG Alder body by Legacy One Guitars
• Warmoth-Jackson neck (compound radius, Wizard, SS frets, Abalone inlays)
• Goncalo Alves fretboard
• Sperzel locking tuners
• DiMarzio Air Norton (neck) and Tone Zone (bridge) wood mounted
• Floyd Rose "PRO" tremolo
• Schaller strap locks
• Grain filled with Timbermate water-based filler
• Finished in Urethane throughout (SprayMax 2K clear (also used as a sealer) and primer, Alsa basecoats with Preval Sprayer
• Tung oiled Maple neck

What's new for this project is that I waxed my screws and did not shield the control cavity as per the expert knowledge of Warmoth Forum contributors. Thanks!

This has to be a GOM candidate. Nice work.

I'm shielding my Jazzmaster's cavity because they're known to be noisy guitars. My Strat cavity is unshielded though and, with the Texas Specials, it barely hums in the single pup positions, and not at all in the combo positions.

Thanks, definitely entering GOM! I get about the same amount of hum as my other shielded guitar, which is still very little. And when you're playing you won't hear it anyway...

It didn't occur to me that I'd omitted the "t" of GOTM, until you just wrote it. Still, I like that GOM is pretty much a word. Not sure I should be reinventing the boards' vernacular, though.

I'm curious how you were able to bolt up the neck in such a way as it would intonate properly, considering that Warmoth bodies/necks are built to strat pocket spec.

Were there any modifications made to the body and/or the neck?

No mods to the neck pocket or neck. But, since the Ibanez neck pocket is about an 1/8 inch shorter in length I ordered the neck without the predrilled mounting holes. It intonates properly...

Beautiful work.  How is the Goncalo as a FB choice?  Is it waxy or smooth feeling?  Draggy feel or fast?
