    Soloist controls layout

I have the same question. Would love to use an Obsidian HH harness on a flat top Soloist, but am unsure if the hole and switch spacing on the Soloist matches a rear routed Strat body.

Question with Warmoth bridge routes and the 720 mod

Was wondering what the cons are for the 720 mod? In Aaron’s video he says he hates it, but doesn’t really say why. Is it simply the lower string height to the body, or is there something else (besides trem incompatibility) to think about? Having never played a guitar with such a mod (so far as I...

Floyd Rose on 24” Scale Length?

Question for the forum: Does anyone know whether it is possible to use a Floyd Rose on a 24” scale length guitar? I have a 7/8 S-Style with a Mustang neck. It’s a lot of fun to play. But now I’m thinking of doing a similar style “super 7/8 s-style” with a 24 inch neck and a Floyd Rose. But I...

Where's the split? 2 HB 5-Way Switch with Autosplit

Aloha forum,  I have an intriguingly simple Seymour Duncan wiring diagram for a two humbucker and 5-Way switch autosplit setup. But as with all SD diagrams, they provide no visual guide to what splits in each switch position. Hoping someone out there can interpret this diagram (attached). What...

    Neck width vs tremolo spacing

It seems Stratmania and Bagman67 have the answer. I didn't think at first that this would work as there was no play at all side-side when I installed the neck, or when I've had it off on a couple of prior occasions. But since both of you are prolific helpers on this forum, I decided to give it a...

    Neck width vs tremolo spacing

I have a wonderful 7/8 S-style with a 1.650 width neck and the American Series (86-07) two-point tremolo. I notice, however, that the high e-string seems unusually close to the edge of the neck. On the higher frets, I can even sometimes fret the string off the neck accidentally. When selecting...

7/8 Size Compared to Strat and Paul

Prior to building the 7/8ths I bought a Warmoth Gibson-scale conversion neck. Plays fabulously, though I did spend months swapping it back-forth with the original Fender neck trying to suss out the differences. Probably swapped 100 times and went through countless sets of strings. Finally came...

7/8 Size Compared to Strat and Paul

The bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan Little 59. A great pickup with almost Les Paul bite, but also does a great crystal clear clean. And no hum. Drops right in and uses the standard Strat 250k pots. The middle and neck are Fender MIM Strat ceramics, which I think are the best middle-neck...

7/8 Size Compared to Strat and Paul

The weight difference isn't huge, but it is noticeable when you pick them up and compare. Some difference might be from the 7/8ths Modern Construction neck, but that would only account for a few ounces at best. Possible too that the American Standard tremolo may have a heavier block (guessing)...

7/8 Size Compared to Strat and Paul

Ever wonder what the size differences are between the 7/8 S-Style and a full size Strat and Les Paul? Have a look here. As you can see, the outward difference between the 7/8 S-Style and the Strat is negligible. But they do feel different, with the 7/8 definitely feeling slightly more compact...

Has anyone tried the 1.650 nut width?

Exactly. The necks would be 25.5, common 6150 fret, and plain maple gloss — whatever is cheapest for Warmoth. The point is to feel the width/neck profile, not for a “keep it if you like it trial”. There’d need to be a damage clause (you break it you buy it), and a $200 deposit refundable upon...

Has anyone tried the 1.650 nut width?

Just recently got a 1.650 in standard thin and love it. I delayed for years on ordering a Warmoth custom because all they offered was 1-5/8ths or 1-11/16ths. I've owned several Fender MIJ and MIMs with the 42 and thought that neck felt natural. I also had an American Standard with the 43mm neck...
