For those who have unfinished roasted maple necks and have used them a lot - do they get dirty like normal unfinished maple? Just curious.
My preference is yes... I like the relic'ed look especially when it's achieved naturally.

I got a great deal on a Warmoth Pbass on TB, but without much info. How can I tell if the neck has graphite or steel stiffener bars?
A refridgerator magnet feels like it might be slightly attracted, but doesn't quite stick. But that could also be the truss rod.
Hmmm.... and I'm putting on a Warwick adjustable-height nut. Maybe this will work! :headbang: I'm hoping to use my bass at a gig 48 or so hours after it's built. I'm usually fairly happy with my own setup jobs although they don't compare to the real magic of a pro.
Do I really have to get my bass set up by a pro? I'm usually able to do a decent job myself, short of levelling and recrowning. I'm not looking for low action on this bass, either.
My Deluxe 5 neck came with holes drilled to fit a tiny heel plate that looks like it belongs on a 4-string P or even a Strat. I'm building a custom body and I'd rather contour the heel and move the screws a little farther toward the edges of the neck joint for better stability and use neck...
