Suhr style HSS wiring with neck on and bridge split

Thanks, that may come in useful. I have an old Ibanez 540R that I may redo the electronics in. I used the Pete Thorn thornbucker pickups and wiring scheme in my current (first and only) Warmoth build. Their cust serv were very friendly and sent the diagram right away.

Oops cut nut slot too low

I oopsed and cut my G string too low. I hadnt noticed the stewmac file I had is .016 and my string is .017 and had not bottomed out. So I thought the string was sitting higher than it was supposed to be. Of course I didnt think about this until it was too late. (and duuuuh I didnt trust the...

    Cavity work

Never really thought of that. Luckily you shouldn't have to change pots that often.

    Cavity work

Chipping away... got the wiring done (except for grounding the trem claw) Will it work???? Who knows but it's starting to look like a guitar! One bummer - I must have thrown one of my pickups in a box with sandpaper, got some fine scratches in it.

    Cavity work

Started doing some work on my soloist body today. I don't like the standard Strat placement of volume knob so I had Warmoth not drill the knobs. I had no way of making a selector switch slot so I did have them put that in. Laid out the holes in similar layout to my (old) Ibanez 540r. I think...

    Soloist / Strat neck

Received my body and neck last Friday and can't believe how nice they are. Truly impressed! Soloist body, mahogany, maple top, candy red, masked edge, clear back. Didnt have the volume and tone controls drilled because the standard Fender volume location is too close to the bridge for me. Neck...

    Schaller locking tuners (from Warmoth)

Thanks for your reply. I should have mentioned I will have a gotoh trem. But I’m not a dive bomb type of guy so it’s pretty tame. I compared them with my Strat deluxe which are staggered and the difference is tiny. So I guess I’ll go without and if needed can add later.

    Schaller locking tuners (from Warmoth)

Just received the Schaller locking tuners and notice the post heights are not staggered. Does this mean I will need to use string trees?

    Burnishing Raw Necks

How do you do the sanding? With just your hand, or do you use some sort of pad? Sand parallel to the length of the neck? How far around the sides... up to the sides of the fretboard?

Just got a ship notice from UPS!

I’ve got some things that will take some time like tracking down Pete thorn wiring scheme, getting a logo and poly’ing it it to the headstock, and a setup (possibly fretwork???))) and I’m not expecting to play this guitar until may. It’ll be worth it...
