Different Gotoh 510 bridges

Hi, I'm about to order a strat from Warmoth with a 510 route. However I've noticed that there are actually a couple of 510 bridges https://g-gotoh.com/product/ev510ts-bs/?lang=en https://g-gotoh.com/product/510ts-bs1/?lang=en https://g-gotoh.com/product/510ts-fe1/?lang=en There are also T...

New strat and re-wiring, both HSH.

I'm a bit confused about your HSH diagram OP.
Did you rotate the bridge humbucker physically? And if you did, why? It doesn't change anything electrically (everything should work and you should get humcancelling in either case), but it does change the position of the north...

New strat and re-wiring, both HSH.

They have explained (albeit briefly) what is intended. 'PP down = split coil and PP up = parallel'. So series was not intended. I guess what isn't clear in their description is that the single coil is blended in, and that the 3 way switch only switches the humbuckers (like a usual Les Paul). So...

New strat and re-wiring, both HSH.

The Mooncaster does the following: 3 way switch to change between humbuckers: neck, neck and bridge together in parallel, bridge. The individual humbuckers will be wired in parallel or split if the push/pull is up or down respectively. So, the humbuckers are never wired in series. The middle...

New strat and re-wiring, both HSH.

Scratch that, I figured out your Mooncaster diagram. Looks good! But again, I don't know what coil will be chosen when the split is engaged.

New strat and re-wiring, both HSH.

Oh okay, the coils of your humbucker have a polarity which is opposite to what I'd expect (usually the inner coil is a north, whereas your inner coil is south). So, whatever coil your green and white wire correspond to, that's the coil you're splitting to. Seems like it should be the inner coil...

New strat and re-wiring, both HSH.

I checked your first HSH diagram. It looks good. But a few tidbits:
I think you are doing 50s wiring here, because the common from the top pole of your selector switch is going to the output of your volume. Do you want that? Your split is splitting to the outer coil (i.e...

Grounding the arm on a Gotoh 510

Just chiming in almost 2 years later because I thought it was important to let OP know they're not going crazy, contrary to the other posts in this thread. This seems to happen with tremolos which have some sort of nylon sleeve which helps affix the tremolo arm to the tremolo. For me, it...

    RWRP tele mistake

Thanks Duckbaloo! My tech did say that he wasn't entirely sure what strength Bareknuckle magnetises their magnets to. I.e., they may or may not use degaussed magnets. So he said it was safest to send it back. And actually I had decided to send it back anyway since the shipping was less than I...

    Thanks JohnnyHardtail! That's quite helpful.

    RWRP tele mistake

I'm actually not that interested in the series sound. I'm just putting in cause
It makes the tele switch feel a bit more like a strat switch. I don't like the long travels on a 3 way switch. Why not?
What I really want is humcancelling when the pickups are combined...

    RWRP tele mistake

Hi everyone, So...I stupidly bought a set of tele pickups from bareknuckle with stock polarity (both neck and bridge have the same polarity, not sure which as I haven't checked!). The neck came with 3 wires for a series mod, meaning the ground wire for the cover is separated. Seeing as I live...

    Reverse magnet humbucker convention

Yes in pos 4 you can split to the screw coil (which would be north for this SSV humbucker) and get humcancelling. This is not traditional for HSH guitars though, see for example https://www.ibanez.com/usa/products/detail/rg8570z_00_03.html The neck screw sounds different to the neck slug...

    Reverse magnet humbucker convention

Oh that is interesting to know! So by default if I buy a SSV neck humbucker from Suhr, the slug will be south? That works well for HH style superstrats, but what about HSH style superstrats? Supposing your middle pickup is south up, then I believe you will have humcancelling in pos 2 (bridge...

    Reverse magnet humbucker convention

Of course for humbuckers that don't use slug/screws then you obviously can't name the wires after slug/screw. So I guess the best thing we have to name the wires after are the polarities of the coils, whatever they may be. And if you flip the magnet then you just need to take that into account...
