Considering the difference between a 9.5" and 10" radius.
(In that there is a big diff between 8" & 9" radius
Less so between 12" and 13"
Almost imperceptible difference between 15" and 16" radius)
Would it work fairly well to use a Graphtech 9.5" radius nut on a 10" Warmoth strat nut slot...
I managed to acquire a Strat pickguard mounted Ilitch coil - and as usual there are complicating factors :-)
It’s a 11 hole mint green;Mine is an 8 hole parchment.
The options are to fit the mint guard it as it is, or to transplant the coil across to my parchment Pickguard.
It is a black...
I have a Warmoth body originally drilled by Warmoth for a 6 screw vintage tremolo.
However, someone installed a Floyd Rose and plugged the 6 trem screw holes.
I managed to extricate the Floyd inserts nicely using oversize washers, a nut and a trem post to exert perfect perpendicular traction -...
Thanks Cagey and Aircap...
The choice lies between
and
Does the latter, with its flat base, offer any sonic advantages / more coupling with the wood etc please?
What is the depth of the nut slot please on a Warmoth Strat neck?
I take it the bottom of the slot is flat..?
Given the 10"-16" compound radius - I'm hoping the Graphtech PT-5000-00 nut (9.5" radius) will be a close fit - but I would need to be sure that it's tall enough...
Actually the Gotoh 510 comes in both 6-screw and twin pivot versions...
With a choice of a traditional Steel or an FST Zinc block.
They don't do the FST mechanism in steel - so I got one made by a friend. Works an absolute treat...!
And used in conjunction with Fender Bullet strings...
Re: tuning instability on Stratocaster type guitars.
The effect of the following friction points is well recognised
- tuning machine posts
- sloppy windings
- locking machine heads (minimising windings around the post)
- string trees
- nut slots
Perhaps less well recognised are...
Floyd Rose's own push in arm - with the grub screw similar to the Gotoh 510 (except that the Floyd arm doesn't screw in) works perfectly - with no wobble at all...
A lot of wise replies. Here are my 2c...
Pickup technology is old - dates back to the 1950s and I don't really believe that there is anything wonderfully different from one manufacturer to another. Don't get pickups with an elevated G string pole though - that was designed for the wound G...
