Fantastic! Thank you!
I had a look around and found Stew Mac sells a 1/8" aircraft bit. I guess that would be close, maybe a bit easier to adjust. Or would you say 7/64 would be closer in tightness to warmoth holes?
I'm curious if anyone knows what pilot hole size Warmoth drills the back cavity spring claw holes. In my experience, the Warmoth holes are perfect. Not too tight to make it hard to adjust the term and not too loose.
I have a body from ages ago (not a Warmoth one) that doesn't have the screw...
This build is already completed. I'm just putting a retro build log here for fun.
Just over a year ago, I got this beautiful quartersawn dark rosewood Warmoth neck as a gift. I had a strat body but this was too good for it, so I just jumped on the warmoth site and there was this beautiful...
Thank you! main challenge I found was to lower the back end of the pocket and front the same amount, the area right below the back wall of the cavity gets less travel. The fret rocker and checking for light leaking from the other side is super useful.
Putting in the pickups now, should be done...
Thanks Stratamania and everyone who replied.
The neck pocket is now level, didn't have to take off much. Maybe 0.5-1mm, still not in the 720 mode range as I still see about a 2mm gap between 22nd fret overhang and body.
It wasn't difficult to do at all, only harm seems to be the turtle is...
I ran my finger around the edge before installing the neck, warmoth has removed the paint from the edges. That sealed looking edge is the clear coat that has penetrated the wood and changed the colour, but there is nothing on the surface.
But just now after this discussion I looked at it...
Thanks everyone for the help.
Thanks, I will do that then. I was afraid I might put an angle on the cavity but I guess this is safer still.
It is a couple low spots (cupped) unfortunately, so all the rest of the cavity needs to go down as well as that corner. I will try to do it carefully...
A bit more than a year ago I bought this beautiful swamp ash body attached below.
It was a one-piece showcase ash body I selected the paint option.
I have a neck for it and had bought all the hardware ready to go. Installed tuners on the neck and tested the fit, unfortunately, there was a gap...
