The issue with a Floyd rose nut is that you have to have two strings unlocked at a time which makes it tricky to hold the tension needed for stringing a headless. Also, the FR bridge's fine tuners don't have enough range to make it easy to bring up or down to the correct pitch. It could work but...

Warwick basses use wenge necks and fretboards, don't they? Maybe look out for pics on the web of old ones or see if any local stores have one second hand.
The position might vary due to the type of bridge used, but in some cases it might be deliberate - for example, the Steinberger GM-1 and GM-5 moved the bridge pickup slightly closer to the nut.
AFAIK Wilkinson don't make their own products, manufacturing is outsourced. Gotoh is one of the companies they use. The VS100 is available as a Japanese Gotoh made unit and also a Korean (?) one which is a lot cheaper.
I've watched a lot of wood turning videos on youtube and they often just apply a coat of wax, even for cups and mugs which will presumably get a fair amount of abuse. So I've wondered if these kind of waxes would work on guitars.
