Instead of reviving an old thread that veered off topic, I'll just start this new one.
Some may remember I was looking for a quilted maple pickguard for a black Warmoth strat build. After some searching around I discovered GilroyGuitars.com out of Australia. I'll skip the story and go...
Here is an update, I ordered this blackburst quilted maple pickguard from Gilroy Guitars in Australia. I'm going to get another one for my blacked out strat. These things look awesome!
Thanks for the comments! I am so happy with how this bass turned out, I wasn't sure how the bloodwood would match the body at first but after it all got put together it seems like the neck was made for the body, almost a perfect color match. I spent a few hours playing it today and it feels so...
The wait was worth it! This custom jazz bass neck is bloodwood/satine back, slim taper contour, Brazilian rosewood fretboard with 6150 frets, abalone inlays and a tusq nut.
It's raw but I had a luthier spray just the pegface with some satin nitro and rub the rest down with lemon oil. The...
That is Fender's "midnight wine" color, kind of purpleish burgundy. I haven't seen many of these, it's a difficult color to match up with anything. I was trying to bring the rosewood fretboard color down into the body, it kind of worked. Anyways I like the grain, and the new unique overall...
I found a luthier in Australia (http://www.gilroyguitars.com) who is making me some quilted pickguards for strat and jazz bass. While waiting for those I ordered an east indian rosewood pickguard from http://www.woodpickguards.biz for another strat. I think it turned out very well, much better...
shanejw, I totally agree with you about 250k pots with humbuckers, "richer" is a great way to put it! And thank you for the compliment, I am very proud of this guitar and by the way I found the black pearl knobs at qparts.com
The Duncan is a PA-TB3b Blues Saraceno pickup and the single coils are Bill Lawrence Wilde L-280's. The patb3, to me, sounds open like a '59 but the treble is not nearly as harsh or piercing, has rounded mids & tighter bass and overall it has a slight cocked wah pedal type tone. It splits very...
That's very cool that you noticed the matching color scheme. I planned on the tuners and bridge matching but got really lucky with the saddles, its funny they kind of tie it all together.
Here's a different shot of the birdseye
I cant help but to think of Spinal Tap when I want to say it could be almost none more black. I am going to try a black burst quilt maple pickguard on it, the pickguard is currently being made but probably wont be finished for a month or so. I went with the black theme to match my black jazz...
My first Warmoth! I found this in the showcase and had them paint the pegface black and finish the back in satin nitro.
-Vintage Modern, Standard Thin contour, Indian Rosewood on Birdseye Maple, Abalone Inlays
I am so impressed with it that I ordered a custom brazilian rosewood on bloodwood...
I found this one on Nashville's Corner Music web site. I wish I had a spare $6,000 laying around...
