Bridge pickup for HSS Strat--Balanced but still ROCKS??

I definitely hear where you are coming from 👍 I will continue to give it some thought—outside factors say I won’t be able to order this guitar for a while anyway, and overthinking is what I do best 😝 At the moment though I’m not too worried—I personally think the JB and the 59/Custom I already...

Bridge pickup for HSS Strat--Balanced but still ROCKS??

OK so just when I thought I had put this to bed, someone suggested the “Lil’ Screamin’ Demon” Strat-size humbucker from Seymour Duncan. I listened to some demos and it sounds like this thing can really rip, and get substantial chug under high gain. Output-wise, it seems like this might be the...

Bridge pickup for HSS Strat--Balanced but still ROCKS??

So based on what I’ve learned so far, it sounds like the EQ of the Low-Wind Imperial might lend itself to a slightly more aggressive sound than the Thornbucker+ even though it’s lower output, which might be the closest thing to the best of both worlds 👍😁 The parallel wiring mod in position 2 is...

Bridge pickup for HSS Strat--Balanced but still ROCKS??

Regarding the JB: I AM concerned about the significant volume drop when switching from bridge to elsewhere. Here’s a bit of background that might be helpful- it’s entirely possible I’m screwing something else up somewhere along the way: I gig with a Headrush (basically an off-brand Line 6...

Bridge pickup for HSS Strat--Balanced but still ROCKS??

Thanks again for all the replies! I’m definitely hearing what you’re all saying- I probably should have clarified this at the beginning, but I’m still a noob in many respects 😅With regards to what I meant by “overpower,” and my apparent contradiction in my original post, Strat Avenger nailed it...

Roasted Flame Maple Neck—Finish or Not?

What about from a durability/protection standpoint? Is an unfinished roasted maple neck going to get dinged and scratched much more easily? Apologies for piggy-backing off your question GuitarMadCap, wasn't sure if I should start a whole new thread for a similar question 😅

Roasted Flame Maple Neck—Finish or Not?

Would you recommend this for Wenge too?

Bridge pickup for HSS Strat--Balanced but still ROCKS??

I will definitely look into these pickups, thanks for the recommendations! They do seem to be in the right output range to balance with the single coils, so definitely worth taking a look!

Bridge pickup for HSS Strat--Balanced but still ROCKS??

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check him out! I have to say though, generally speaking I'm a bit hesitant about paying "custom" prices for a pickup no one's ever heard before 😅 I tend to be extra thorough--same reason I'm on here getting extra opinions before buying a pickup 😝

Bridge pickup for HSS Strat--Balanced but still ROCKS??

Thanks all for the responses so far! Yeah, I have the JB in my other Warmoth build and I love it--sounds terrific on its own and gives plenty of snap when split. I'm concerned about the pretty significant difference in output compared to the single coils though... feels like it would really...

Bridge pickup for HSS Strat--Balanced but still ROCKS??

Hey everyone! I’m building an HSS Strat and need help picking the right bridge humbucker that’s balanced with low-output single coils but still rocks when needed. What I’m Looking For: Classic Strat tones (quacky notch positions, chimey cleans). Great overdriven neck pickup sounds (Hendrix...

    Wood choice for semi-hollow body

Hey guys, I know this has been dormant a while, but today I played a Gibson ES-335 Dot Reissue through my own amplifier and I feel like it provided EXACTLY the tones I've been looking for!  I'd still rather build the Mooncaster and end up with my own unique guitar rather than just buy the Gibson...

    Pickups for ES-335 tone

Hi all, So today I played a Gibson ES-335 Dot Reissue through my own amplifier, and I realized that this is EXACTLY the tone that I've been searching for for my next guitar:  I was able to get several different delightfully rich and warm jazz tones out of the neck pickup (the main thing I've...
