zebrawood: grain filler?

Considering a zebrawood top. Do I need to fill the grain? I want to do purple glitter over the zebrawood.


...just kidding. I'll probably use tru-oil. I'd like for this one to look somewhat refined compared to my other guitars.

You don't HAVE to grain fill, but you'll get a lot nicer gloss finish if you do.

follow up question: do I use a darker color filler or lighter? From what I can see, the dark bands are more recessed than the light bands in zebrawood.

The graining in Zebrawood tends to be kind of longish grain pores that appear more prominent in the lighter colored bands of the wood. You could use a dark filler, but personally I think just using a clear filler looks better.

Any woods where grain filling is a definate no no? Isn't Alder fine without?
