Your Favorite Strings?

I've gone through a number of different brands over time, always alternating between 9s and 10s depending on how much I was playing at the time. But, the last 15 years or so I've been using D'Addario strings pretty exclusively, and almost always 9s. Their PN: EXL120, which is a nickel wound super light .009-.042 set.

I did try a set of Ernie Ball SS 9s not too long ago. I liked those, and have more of them laying around, but I didn't get a lot of time in on them before I cut them off so the jury is still out. They're pretty bright little rascals, so they're probably not going to work well on every instrument.

I know what you mean by different strings for different axes, but I buy my strings in bulk to get a good deal and it is hard to justify buying twice as many just to satisfy the need of one axe.
:headbang:

I use nothing but Thomastik-Infeld strings. Yes I know they're expensive, but what can I say, I'm completely spoiled for anything else.

On my acoustic I use Plectrum .011 - .050. On my Warmoth Thinline I use their Sliders Blues Series .010 - .048. On my Hamer T-62 is a set of Power Bright .010 - .045's. And my Godin Acousticaster has a set of the Jazz Swing flatwounds, .010 - .044.

These things sound fabulous and really do last longer than lesser strings. I highly recommend them.

I've spent a bit of time trying out different strings and finding what's just right for each guitar is unique.
On my hollowbody, i play standard D'Addario 10's. This guitar is tuned one whole step up from standard tuning - so this feels like the equivalent of playing something like 11's in standard tuning.
On my artist, I play D'Addario Pro Steel 10's. This guitar is also tuned up a whole step
On Martin acoustic, i use martin phosphor bronze 12's in standard.
On my Ibanez acoustic, I use Elixer 80/20 Nanoweb 13's in standard.

haven't figured out what this new Danelectro needs.
Generally speaking, I lean towards heavier strings - I personally just don't like the feel of slinkiness under my fingers. I honed most of my playing skills on acoustic and transferred that style over to electric, so I don't like the strings to be drastically lighter. I also think there's something to be said for the tone of heavier strings, and a lot of people don't give enough credit to how much the gauge and material affects your sound.

D'Addario 10-46 for electric.
Carvin 10-46 (they are really just GHS boomers from what I've heard from Carvin employees themselves)
and Martin phosphor bronze 10-46 for acoustic.

Elixir Nanoweb 10-46 on my 6-stringers
D'Addario 12-56 on my acoustic (I think they're Phosphor, but they may be 80/20, I bought like 12 sets when they were on sale and threw out the box)
DR Hi-Beams 45-105 on my 4-strings (although Rotosound Swings are almost as good when I'm feeling cheap)
Haven't really decided what I like on my 5er yet, probably DR

...My buddy uses D'Addario Prosteel Light Jazz (13-56 or somesuch) exclusively, primarily to keep other people from playing his axe, I think  :tard:

I have used D'Addario regular lights for a long time, but recently found their jazz/blues set with the wound 3rd and am in love with them. I don't know if you guys have tried a wound G string yet, but it sounds absolutely amazing. However, it does make bends pretty hard, so I use them on my SG tuned to Drop C. Standard tuning just makes the strings too taught. I do think they have a set of light gauge strings with a wound G though.

Edit: The set I got was the Jazz lights with wound G, the set I'm going to try next with the lighter gauge is the jazz/blues set with wound G.

I'm back to D’Addario again currently EXL 110 10-46s on everything but the Fen. strat which has #9 bullets.
I try to buy bulk and can't really fault D’Addario, when ever I stray I come back.
Last try were DR pure blues, Nice but I thought they sounded week, as compared to D’Addario. (anybody want a few? 10's)

Anyone try cleartone's either coated or uncoated? They have a set for dropped tuning but the G string is to heavy at .20 to .22.

I use bulk strings i get from Juststrings.com

I use the same (weird) gauges on all my electrics as of right now:
.012  .017.  .022  .030  .040  .050

But i'm considering dropping down to 11's on two of them so the string bending is easier on mah handz.

Been using these for a while now.

Phosphor Bronze are too dull sounding (lacking in high-end), which is why I used 80/20 Bronze. When my acoustic was new, it had more attack, and Phosphor Bronze strings were fine, but after 13 years, the tone of the guitar has "mellowed", and the brighter strings now sound best.

I use DR pure blues 11's on most of my electrics and DR pure blues 12's on my archtop and one strat.
