A little history. The song that gave me the "1000 yard stare" as far as wanting to play guitar was Cream's "Dance The Night Away" on Disraeli Gears. I heard that intro, and just knew I had to learn how to make that sound. It took a while to find, but my Veillette 12-string can nail that tone perfectly. Go here...

Click on "New in the shop", and keep going until you find the first guitar listed. My second favorite band of all time is Jefferson Airplane, and if you fiddle with the mix knob between to magnetic and piezo pickups, you can also get a pretty fair approximation of Kantner's Rickenbacker. It's the only guitar I own that gets played every single day, and it never fails to amaze me with its build quality and variety of tones. Seriously cheap too, $2,700.00 shipped, and no, I'm not kidding.
Speaking of Kantner, a couple of years ago I asked on the JA mailing list if anyone had tab for the song "Have You Seen The Saucers". Half an hour later, Paul himself sent me an email with the tab AND tuning (DADDAD, btw). I hate to admit it, but I actually squealed like a little girl upon getting a private email from one of my musical heroes.
