$5570 MSRP??? (Should still be about $3600-3700 at Guitar Center) Who's getting in line to buy one of these?

If Johnny Winter hadn't already quit using drugs, seeing that guitar might have inspired him to go cold turkey on the spot.

Thought I do sort of like the bowling ball swirl finish,,,,  But not on that guitar.

Read the comments, they're funny...  Johnny's legally blind, but it wouldn't feel right even if he can't see it...

Saw this thing a while back.  Threw up a little bit in my mouth back then, and believe I'd just done it again...

I can't fart loud enough to express my opinion of that guitar or anything to do with that guitar...

I love the comment that added the price of a standard explorer and a boss multi effects pedal and came up 3k short of the price of this baby. Also - one year warranty? WHEN it breaks after that, who repairs it? It's nearly guaranteed to be in a landfill in ten years, and anyone ought to be able to realize that. Weird.

This thing is a train wreck - their ad copy (meant to make you WANT it):

Revolutionary Battery Life

Thanks to advances in low-power circuitry, greater Robo-Tuner efficiency, and powersaving techniques derived from laptop computers, the internal battery lasts for well over two hours of heavy, continuous use — and should the power run out, the battery can be swapped out in under 10 seconds with commonly available, inexpensive camcorder batteries.

In other words, you have to charge your guitar between sets.

They also claim it can sound exactly like a J-45. Except that the J-45 has better battery life, and doesn't require too many firmware updates....

Oh, this is too easy.

Although this REALLY ISNT MY THING. It is interesting, as a technology guy, that the hardware and software for this guitar will be made available for other instruments, non-gibsons. The interface and tonal capabilities may be fun to play with. I like the pick up arrangemnet specifically the peizio / condensor mic capabilities.

Reminder: One day long ago there were groups of musicians discussing the acceptability of electric pick-ups. Now they are standard. This technology is new, and not designed for everyone. The technology will improve, and I would like to reserve judgement until I have a chance to play one of these and give the technology a chance to develop.

I did just play the 60s tribute les paul studios with P90s and satin nitro finishes - they were good guitars but didn't "feel" quality or look good close up. The cream was a weird color, finish had lots of flaws, etc. . Sounded nice, though, and they were $800. So my point is, Gibson does have some good new / old stuff out there and if they cared about quality they could make it competitive with the Chinese QC. My Ibanez semi hollow has far better QC, for sure.

Honestly, I don't care what fancy technology they're putting into these new guitars.  It doesn't offend me one bit, they can go ahead and try whatever they can dream up.

But that said, why do they have to look like an 8 year old with questionable art skills drew the body design in crayon on the back of a Denny's placemat and they just went with that?  :tard:

Am I the only one who remembers we did this thread a while ago. when the guitar came out?

Or is any thread a good excuse to hate that clown shoe?

Sometimes things need to be ridiculed in duplicate. Or triplicate. Maybe that was the roboto guitar, and this is a much more advanced version of that amazing piece of ______ .

lol
i was thinking the same thing. I think it's a healthy thing for the board as a community to rally around a single point of interest that we can all agree on.  :icon_jokercolor:
