Nice. Is that a Lian Li case for your PC? Also, what software are you using with your 1820M?

Damn, you know your 'puters!  Yes a model V1200 or something - PSU's on the bottom.

The 1820m comes with "Patchmix" software for signal routing, etc...

Other than that, a slew of stuff like Cubase, Reaper, drum emu's, synth emu's, VSTs etc.

The PC also doubles as my gaming rig - dual boot (XP for DAW, Win 7 64bit for games).  :icon_thumright:

I've been a computer geek since before there were PCs, before Microsoft was incorporated, before a lot of things we take for granted now. I've built hundreds of them to do all sorts of wild things they were never designed to do, and written tons of software over my career as an engineer/programmer, starting in the early days with assembly language and moving on from there. I recognize the Lian Li because they're the Rolls Royce of computer cases, with Silverstone being the Mercedes. I have a number of pieces of their work here now, and have used them extensively in the past on custom builds for others. I've found it only costs a little more to go first class, and you're rarely sorry <grin>

I got my 1820M as part of Emu's Emulator X package 6 or 7 years ago along with Cubase 3SL, and sadly it's done more dust collecting than anything else because right about the same time, I more or less gave Windows the boot. I've been running Linux ever since, and there's no easy way to use that gear with that OS. But, a buddy of mine is getting itchy to record something, and I've got a fast quad core with a ton of memory and storage that's not dedicated to anything in particular, so I may install Windows on it and get this stuff all going again. Helluva waste, otherwise.

Very cool!  I've heard the Emu-X was kick-ass, too.

While the 1820m is a "pro-sumer" device, the A/D converters are top-notch... but you prolly already know that.

I use XP for DAW only because *everything* I use (not just the 1820m) works flawlessly with it.  Vista, 7 - some progs do and some don't.

However, I can say for a fact that the Vista 1820m drivers work flawlessly in Vista *and* 7.  I use the 1820m on my 7 partition for sound (gaming/movies/WDM).

And recently they issued 7 beta drivers for the E-MU lineup.

Still, if you're going full DAW with all the progs and plugins and stuff... and some of that software isn't new (or Vista/7 compatible), I would suggest XP for obvious compatibility reasons.

It's always (and will forever be) about compatibility...... bleh.  LOL

Yeah, I hate to use old revision levels of software, but I'm afraid I'm not going to have a lot of choice with these toys at this point. I have an XP license around here somewhere, so that's what I'll install. Have to wait for a day when I'm feeling particularly masochistic... <grin>

thats some nice gear! but my favorite part was the Call of Duty: World At War Special Edition :icon_biggrin:

actually thats not true at all. those amps look awesome. but the special edition is cool anyway. a friend of mine got one, and i was supposed to (gamestop decided to sell my reserved copy to somebody else before i got there). too bad the canteen wouldn't actually open.

Yeah big COD fan here... 'cept for the new one (COD:MW2) - Infinity Ward screwed it over with lack of dedicated servers and the whole gay
"console" matchmaking crap.  They need to keep kiddie console implementation out of the PC world.

Black Ops (by Treyarch - makers of COD:WAW) will be out in November some time.

Oh yeah the non-opening canteen... undoubtedly done so some typical idiot wouldn't fill the canteen with turpentine, chug it all down,
die, and the company gets sued.... hah!

agreed. i'm a console player just for convenience sake, plus all my friends are on xbox 360. but they're really screwing over PC players with their games. so far i think COD4 was still the best, then WAW, then MW2 just because it has to rank somewhere. i'd play battlefield over the new COD any day unfortunately.

Love the first Strat, I really like colored headstock.

Cool pictures and cool gear man.

I've been a big COD fan, but Battlefield is where its at now if you ask me, Bad Company 2 is such a great game.

EDIT:  and oh yeah nice gear man.  :icon_thumright:  Might have to get some pics of my tube amp up here soon.

The only FPS game I play now (and pretty much the only game) is Counter-Strike 1.6 / Counter-Strike Source. I played it competitively on a pretty high level a couple years ago. Now I just scrim for fun with some old friends.

i hated WAW and MW2. im pretty much done with any new COD games since IW has just gone way overboard and treyarch sucks. COD4 is the only multiplayer gameiplay now.

What's your opinion of the Bad Monkey?  I found it to be a groovy pedal; especially for the price.

that is just a kick-you-in-the-face top on that LP... i don't think i'd ever play it if i owned it, i'd just stare at it.
