Just a quickie review. Found a pair of Sheptone Tributes that I thought I'd try in my mahogany-body guitar. It has maple neck and ebony board and is my "try out pickups" guitar.
I have to say that I'm quite pleased. These definitely have the classic rock vibe and are very nicely balanced. They have a honky but sweet musical kind of flavor that I really like and are not harsh at all. I am becoming very fond of lower output pickups and these are 7.8 in the neck and 8.1 in the bridge, so are squarely in the PAF range. I would recommend them if you like your humbuckers with the kind of character that translates well to blues and classic rock. They got me playing that guitar a lot more, and thats the point isn't it?
On another note, did anyone notice that someone is trying to sell a pair of Roadhouse humbuckers for almost $400 on ebay….
