Need some suggestions here. I got a vintage tint strat body with a yellow tortoise pickguard. With the color of the body, the  yellow does really stand out. If i put a white sheet behind it...the yellow really pops and looks awesome! What kind of white backing could i put on the back of the pickguard to make it look good? Maybe white tape? Any siggestions?

It's been quite common over the years to put colored paper behind transparent or translucent pickguards. I've done it for clients. Why not white? I say go for it.

I find cardstock produces tighter bass with a chimier top end, while vellum produces haunting mids..... Just kidding. I'm inclined to say that whatever produces the visual effect you are after is the correct stuff. I can't imagine plain copy paper not doing the trick.

I even used aluminum foil once to get a reflective depth to the pickguard material.
