Yearly Finishes/Colors

So, Warmoth has all these classic finishes, and that's cool. But in Fashion and in the Automotive industry, colors change on a yearly basis.  I think it would be cool if Warmoth introduced extra finishes that they would only do in that year. And then, in the following year, drop those and do two new finishes.

For example, maybe this year they would do this dark metallic orange that I'm seeing in various foreign and domestic car lines:

Or you could choose a Metallic Mopar Purple:

And then the next year, you couldn't buy those colors anymore.  But maybe you could get a guitar in a cypress green:

Or maybe you could get a more sea-green dye, or flames, or whatever.  But those colors would be the "2011 Warmoth" colors.  You'd have to get them in 2011. You'd still have the normal finishes, but the 2011 finishes would only be available in 2011.

It would appeal to those who aren't into vintage so much, and those who really like the very idea of "Custom."  From warmoth's perspective, it would drive customers to buy in that year, rather than put off purchasing another year. (And the end of the year is around Christmas, anyway.)

I've never been a fan of "limited time only" things.
I greatly dislike the idea of something only being available for a certain amount of time. I want it available any time I want to buy it.

Yeah but then say you might have one ebay seller who made i dunno 20 Tele bodies in a special colour in 2011 and then was selling them off for twice or eventually maybe even triple the price he paid for them.
Exactly what happend with PRS left handed guitars, when you stop making something price goes up, and the person behind it gets alot of hate thrown their way.

The idea is that you'd have another finish, the next year, that you might like as much or more as the colors this year. And we're not talking about taking away things, really, we're talking about adding, say, two more options than what you have already.

Yeah, and this way, they wouldn't be stuck doing those colors forever!

i would love to see ocean turquoise!

I can't find a good picture of Fender Ocean Turquoise.  Apparently, it doesn't photograph well. These two pics are supposedly of the same guitar:

it's definitely one of those colors that can change dramatically with the light, but look at the fretboard. ton of difference... its like they took one with the flash and one without, but it's kind of like lake placid blue in that way. that one color can look like 5 different shades under different light.

but if they did start painting with Ocean Turquoise i'd want them to keep it :icon_biggrin: thats a badass color

I'm all for new colors, but I don't see the point of limiting them to one year with such a limited market already.  Warmoth is not General Motors.  There is a much more limited sales base.

That being said, I think that Warmoth is slowly introducing new colors and ideas in the showcase.  You do sometimes see one-off color schemes.  I think they intriduce them in the showcase, and if they prove to be popular it becomes a regular catalog item.
