Somehow, beating the crap out of a guitar that started out so pretty doesn't make it look better, at least to me... :icon_scratch: But it's not faked, that's for sure! You almost gotta feel sorry for whatever he's moved on to.

I love it! That's some honest character right there. A pickguard sure as hell wouldn't have hurt anything, but the neck looks great. I like the genuine wear on this thing. It is definitely a beautiful instrument.

This one doesn't have a starting price as wild as it probably could have been, but I still can't see buying a gunked-up worn-out biohazard for that kind of money when I can build/buy a better one new for less.

I love the end of the fretboard.  My early 90s Joe Pass Epi has that shape, and it's awesome.

+1...that is cool. :icon_biggrin:

I checked it out, it does look a bit worn, but the wear spot near the strings, what kinda picken do you gotta do to get a wear pattern like that? It looks like it was done with a dremel tool, the wear just apeers to sharp and close to the strings in some places, I would think that long term wear would "Feather" or blend in a little more. Maybe the guy has some funny way of playing I guess.

Either way, it's a nice looking collector

I have worn finishes on all the guitars I play, just like that! It's where your little and ring finger rest when you're playing single notes with a palm partial-mute on top of the bridge - looking at that bridge, I'd guess this guy did a lot of that... most all guitars that somebody's really practiced on get wear in that area, though not all the way through a 1975's thick poly finish. It may be that Gibson actually did a nice finish job on their highest-priced guitars.

that spot near the strings is indeed due to putting your hand there. i play with my pinky and fourth finger resting on a pickup ring or on the body, and in due time my superthinly finiished nitro-sprayed guitar will get that kinda wear to :P

I never touch the body of my guitar with my right hand when I play, I've found it gets in the way of developing precision. Not that anyone would notice at the moment since I'm so out of practice, but still...
