Wood filler = drywall compound?

This video makes a lot of sense, especially if you have the need to buy wood filler in the economical 5-gallon size ->

The first time I used Stew-Mac's beloved "Timber-Mate" I thought, "looks like drywall compound, smells like drywall compound, works like drywall compound"... though those colorful drywall guys prefer to call it "mud." "Spackle" is another term that comes to mind....
 
Interesting. I never would have thought that would be suitable for that use.
 
It makes sense. It's cheap, readily available, lightweight when dry and sands easily. I think you're on to something there, Stub.

 
If you decide to try this notice that he is using Joint Compound which is just one type of Drywall mud. There is topping, hot mud, joint compound, and multipurpose. They all are used for different things and have different mixtures and dry times.
