I recently played an 87 a Jackson model 3 and really like the lean neck.. Does anyone out there have a Wizard shape Warmoth neck..
Do you like it? How much different does it feel  than a standard thin profile? Are the edges rolled?

I have two warmoth necks with the Wizard back. one in all birdseye maple and the other is wenge back with jet black ebony fb. I LOVE THEM. for me they are the perfect shape. nice and thin but without being ridiculous thin like some ibanez necks. I also have a warmoth standard thin and I can tell you that I feel a major difference between the warmoth std thin and wizard. but thats just me.

as far as edges being rolled all my necks from warmoth have come just fine for my liking. but warmoth doesnt offer that service.

I also have 2 wizard necks, a canary/ziricote and a wenge/pau ferro and love them both as well. They are quite thinner than the standard thin but not as thin as my Jacksons.

Thats funny you should mention Jackson's... I thought the Wizard profile was supposed to be a Jackson clone? Before I ordered my current project, I did some research and found that Warmoths 1st and 12th fret measurments for the Wizard back exactly match those of my Jackson DKMG Dinky (according to Jackson, anyways). My DKMG is (so far) my favorite guitar, the neck is just a c*nt-hair to thin for me (and I think I have small hands), but I do love it so... haven't had a chance to actually play standard thin Warmoth neck yet, but so far it feels perfect (like my DKMG but just a c*nt-hair thicker).  :toothy11:

The measurements of the wizard and Jacksons are pretty close at those two point, but the Jackson is a different shape to the back. The Jackson is more of a flatter contour...

I have a qtr sawn maple/ebony Wizard with 6130s and 1 11/16 width. It's a very smooth and easy to play neck (if you like thin profiles).  I also have a 2007 SG-GT which has a fatter U-shaped neck and the same nut width as the Wiz.  I find the SG to be a better fit for my hands (medium sized).  Whenever I switch back to the wiz, I find myself missing the feel of that bit of wood in my hand.  I also find that the nut feels cramped on the Warmoth neck as opposed to the Gibson neck and I have no idea why.

Love my wizards!  :party07:

When I decided to do my first Warmoth - I measured an old Ibanez Jem7 I have and a custom I have which was based on an old Jackson RR. The two of these were both very close to "W" s wizard profile. One is Birdseye/Birdseye with 10-16 Radius and 6105SS frets. The other is Goncalo Alves/Goncalo Alves with 10-16 Radius and 6230SS. Both have 1-3/4 nut widths. I have smalllish hands - I think because my first guitar lessons were all on a classical guitar that a thin wide neck has always felt comfortable to me.

My problem now is my next build I want to use a 24-3/4 neck but W doesn't make it with wizard profile or 1-3/4 nut width haven't figured out what I'm going to do yet.  :sad1:

I also have a Jackson Dinky (which has the same specs as the Wizard) and was wondering if anyone who has both a Dinky and a Warmoth with the wizard neck could compare/contrast the feel of both necks. Thanks.
