I need a little help on wiring a Telecaster control plate.I'm not sure witch Capacitors to use here is a picture of what came in my wiring kit.It look's like the only one that would work is the .022k  I have never did this part before I have done wiring pickups and that's easy to do.I'm trying to get as much done before I get the body so I can work on it and have it done pretty fast so I can start playing it.I got all wiring kit from ebay. The rest of the part's from different places.I put all the part's on the control plate last night.

Man I am not sure. Most of the standard wiring diagrams I see call for a .047 but I reckon a .022. Maybe some of those extras are for a treble bleed but it doesn't look quite right cause you need a little resistor.
Standard from seymour duncan

Here is a treble bleed mod.

.022µF is probably best for tone control. Larger caps tend to roll far too much off to be useful, which I suspect is why many don't even use their tone controls. The .001µF part would be for a treble bleed. They don't always need/use resistors; those are added to change the response curve to make the bleeder less obvious. With some pickups, a bleeder all by itself will tend to slightly increase the treble response as you back off the volume. Usually not a problem with humbuckers. You may want to review this article.

I don't know what that last cap is for. Here, it would find a spot in the corner of one of my Drawers of Misfit Parts.

Thanks for the link.Think I'll go to stewmac and order a few things from them they have a good video that I found out after asking this. And I did get a few of the solder lugs I'm going to use this and not the top of the pots for grounding.I went with the 250k pots the kit is nice but the capacitors in the kit I don't like at all.The Antique Jade color did not turn out to good but I'm using it on my 2 x 12 speaker cabinet.I love the  color but the way you have to use it really does suck.So now look's like I'll go oil base stain. Thanks for the help on wiring think I am set for a while. :occasion14:
After I got done with this speaker cabinet I don't like the way it came out at all.Going to sand most of it off and just put on some Tolex in white think this will be better but that will have to wait a week or two.

I second the motion for the double-deuce tone cap. Everything else is to dark and murky. I put one of those big flat round ones with ".503" printed on it in a guitar for a friend because that is what he wanted (-I can't for the life of me figure out why), and years later, I still have a few out of the bag of 'em I picked up for that project. -I give 'em away with anything guitar/bass-related I sell/ship lately just to make them go away.  :laughing7:

Cagey do you have a photo of your volume and tone pots with the solder lugs I need to see witch way and where to install them.I think you are the one with a post on them.If not my bad lol.

Y'know - I could swear I did a whole treatment of that procedure with lotsa pictures, but I'll be damned if I can find it here or in my photo collection.

If you've got a day or so, I'll be wiring a Strat 'guard tomorrow and I'll document that.

Thanks Cagey that would help a lot.I have a lot of time here lol.I'm still buying parts. And still not sure what color my Telecaster will be for sure the color I had got just does not work out good here for me.I got to get this all right my wife name will be on it.I know she would love it too.Just wish she could.

:)  Well I got the wiring done. All I have to do now is add the pickups when time comes. It was harder than I thought it would be.But at the same time not that hard either if that makes any sent's.I guess the easy part is over. The hard part will be to do the work on the body.Boy I got my self a BIG can of worms this time.If anyone here has picture's of there wiring on the control for a Telecaster I would love to see them. That will let me know if I goof or not.Don't even ask me to post picture's of my wiring job here lol.

Wiring can take a while if your not used to it. A lot of things on guitars need a little time.

If you look at my signature I just added links to a couple of build threads. In the Tele one you'll find pictures of the wiring, although the circuit I used is not a standard Tele wiring.

Thank you and a lot of its patience, thinking it through etc.

Take your time and so on and that guitar of yours will be all the more special.

Patience I had that while my wife was with me.But after she went to heaven I some how lost it.While I am working on my guitar I think of all kinds of stuff to do to it.Then I start and get very upset. So I start something different to keep me a little cool. Then it's back on it.Not the way I like to do things but my life has change so much now.But you are so right I need to take my time with it think it through and make it right.I'm trying man but there is a lot more to building this than meet's the eye for sure.Funny thing is I can work on them set them up do anything I need to one but to build it from part's man that's different or it is for me.The wiring darn near made me go nut's but I got that out of the way.But I do know I got to take my time and do as good as a job as I can on it after all it will have my wife name on it.I want it to look good I know she is watching me down here some how I feel that.I guess what makes it so hard on me is that while I am working on thing's here all I think about is my wife how great I had it with her.But I was an ass at time and that alone hurt's me a lot if only I could re do it all man would I ever.I ask ever day and night for god to please take me so far no go.Guess I'll be like this until my time is up.But hope I get to finish this guitar for my wife it means so much to me now.Guess I think to much here on stuff.

I hear you.

Possibly the best thing to do when your feeling less than optimum is go for a long walk and look at what's around you.

We all have things we could have done differently, but the key is to recognise that which you have. Then focus on the great things and times, the little things that were special.

You are alive, stay that way. I'm sure your wife would want you to be happy and making the most of things.

Thanks for taking the time to get back to me it does help when you know people does care.

Here is some of the part's I have and the wiring I have done so far. It's not all on the wiring but it's getting there.
