Wiring a single conductor humbucker...

I'm building a Strat with two humbuckers, a master volume, master tone and a Tele style 3-way switch.  The neck pickup is a single conductor type with the braided cable and I'm wondering precisely how this is going to be connected.  Hot to the selector switch and the braid to the volume pot?  I typically work with 4-conductor...

Can I solder the center wire to the selector switch and then just solder the whole wire to the pot?  Or do I have to cut a slit in the braid and solder that separately?

The center wire can't touch the back of the pot, or it'll just ground out. Just solder the braid, with the shielding between the braid and the wire intact, to the back of the pot.
