I can't find any pricing or mention of wild maple on the Warmoth website. Is it just that rare or something? I was lookign for a one-piece maple top on a Jazz, one similar to the blue LP that won the last contest.

I found this one under "quilt maple" in the Jazz Master body builder.  I'm not sure if it's wild, but it's Wild-esque.

Wild maple is generally dark, not light.  The top I have is VERY dark, almost mahogany color.  Heck... hold on, I'll snap a pic

There ya be, classic wild maple

That's perfect. I just want it in one-piece format. Symmetry and visible seams bother me. I like the chaos of that kind of maple. If I could get it on a one-piece maple back.. I don't know how big of pieces maple comes in for them to work with.

I've been on the forums for a few months. I average a new, "Wow, that's perfect and now I totally know what I want to build," moment weekly.

FWIW, that one is a thinline.. no f/hole and has a sweet as can be vintage construction goncalo neck.  You can tell it gets played a lot too

It's gonna be hard to find a 1 piece.  I don't think I've ever seen one on the site, and I frequently search for wild maple stuff because it's my favorite.  They do have 4 book matched tops in the Strat area right now though, and if you let em know which one you want, they can probably put it on a bass.  Wild maple wasn't offered as a top for Les Pauls when I got mine, but I asked if they could use a top from the Strat section and they did it for me.

Call Warmoth and check, but be advised it will be very expensive (you could make about 7 lam tops from the same blank and need one large enough for a bass body) and could be relatively heavy. Last I saw something like that was actually a 2 piece bookmatched solid flame Strat body that went for around a grand before the prices started shooting up for figured maple.

I'm not sold enough on it to drop a grand for a pretty face. Maybe I'll just go ash. That always looks good naked.

Check the "Unique Choice" woods section.  There's things in there that may not be on the normal price guide.  From Wild Maple to Ash is a big jump though.  There's Quilt, Flame, and Birdseye (my personal favorite), as well as different A grades with different pricing.  One little trick too, Warmoth usually doesn't have just plain vanilla Maple, but Alder may work as it is sometimes a plain Maple look-a-like.

Maybe I wasn't being clear. I wasn't wanting a one-piece wild maple BODY, just a one-piece top on a plain maple body.

Sorry yall I work in a call center and the only constant truth is that everything needs to be clarified.
