Why is Bloodwood not a more popular neck wood around here?

I'm asking, seriously.  Joey and I were chatting about this, and I want input!  I LOVE my bloodwood bass neck.  Where is the Bloodwood love?  What issues do people have with it?

A few people here have Bloodwood boards (I think Xplorervoodoo has a white Strat with a Bloodwood board? Am I remembering correctly?) but very few have necks with Bloodwood shafts.

My current build was suppose to be Satine, I love the look, but the neck I got fit the theme better.
What I really love about Blood is the tone it gives.

I've got a great bloodwood Warmoth neck and a two piece bloodwood body blank I need to do something with someday.  The body blank ended up being a little more "orange" than the neck and thats where I'm stuck right now.  Decisions...

They are supposedly similar in tone.
Padouk is much more open grained than Bloodwood, but what are the differences in feel?
Is one heavier than the other?

They are supposedly similar in tone.
Padouk is much more open grained than Bloodwood, but what are the differences in feel?

it feels way more polished and a bit heaver than padouk.. probably close to Ebony.
the tone is supposedly very bright, but mine was really fat but not muddy.. the sustain is absolutely amazing!!

No kidding!

I thought he restrained himself quite well. I would have gone with:

"Look at my long hard red shaft!"

THAT would have been a couple of levels of uncomfortable higher I think...
