Why doesn"t Warmoth burnish roasted maple necks?

Jennifer Batten told me during a clinic some years ago that EVH asked her to show him how he played the "Beat It" solo, since he improvised it and she learned it verbatim.  He handed her Frankenstein and her first comment was, "wow, what a piece of crap", which she quickly apologized for.
But, there you go.  Some pro's play stellar instruments, some play less than stellar and adjust to it.

Good point, Tony. Many of the legends of guitar playing from the 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's made the music that we love on gear that was less than optimal.

Hell, even Jack White just started playing guitars he didn't have to wrestle into submission in the last year or two.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their help. Just put in my order for a roasted maple/black ebony neck (my first roasted maple neck) . I selected SS6115 frets and a 1 3/4 nut width. I also decided to have no inlays on the fret board. When it arrives I will bolt it onto one of my strats and play it for a few months and then decide if I want to burnish it.

And he caught some shit for it, too. I totally DO NOT get that. Let Jack play what he wants to play.

Well I asked for it and Warmoth gave it to me. Warmoth posted a new video on how necks are made and showed how much hand sanding goes into each neck. They specifically talked about how the sanding isn't done by CNC machines. ( I guess that was a message for me)  :yourock:  It was very informative. Thank you Warmoth.

I have held Steve Vai's original Evo in my hands and it's totally beat to crap....played freaking awesome though.

I have had the same guitar in my hands, I actually was surprised that the action was not lower and so my conclusion was somewhat different.
