Why do some tele bodies have this cut out area on the bottome of the bridge pickup cut out and some do not?

I'm pretty sure thats for the bridge plate ground wire to go down into the bridge pickup route and to the control cavity. Warmoth tele bodies have a small hole drilled at an angle from under the bridge plate that goes directly to the control cavity for grounding. (as seen in the first picture, the little hole just above the bridge mounting holes)
