Do you have a classical guitar with a pickup in it that is functional for recording?

I eventually want to get a classical guitar but I really hate having to mic a guitar to record it.
I'm really interested in hearing about the one you own and how it records direct off of the pickup.

Got any tracks that were done with the pickup only?

Thank you!

i have an ibanez exotic series made from flame sycamore. i can recomend it, depending on what you play. there is one made from koa and one made from bubinga(sp?) as well, the koa is the warmest. the bubniga has great lows andis well defined overall, this one is a bit brighter, it looks fantastic plays well and being the brightest one to my ears i thought it would be better if i wanted to play spanish music.

another member has a warmoth strat with piezo electronics that is strung with nylon, it looks amazing. sounds pretty damn good too.

Thank you!
Is this the one?  http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-IBA-EWN28-LIST?SRC=D0407FG0HAMS0000&utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=feed&

I'll offer my personal counter-opinion: Piezo electronics in nylon-string guitars sound miserable. The "quack" is unavoidable and undeniable.

yes buy the koa one i played had a better top, the sycamore has the best flame i've ever seen on a production guitar. and is cheaper than the koa.

i'll post a pic later

If you're recording, micing will almost always sound better. I'd bite the bullet and get used to micing, man. Actually seems like less hassle to me.  :dontknow:

Well ... I like your thoughts about the sycamore being brighter.
Pics are cool ...
... but I'd much rather have an mp3 clip of it direct into your sound card with no FX.  :p

i'll try, i'll note that my hearing is funny, i work around machines and used to work around fighter jets. my audio grams show a 20db dip in the upper range, 5khz or so. my perception isn't alwats right.

looks like they dont come around anymore, and the neck is not warmoth

Dammit, now I have to build a Warmoth nylon string, as if I didn't have enough project ideas.

Not to worry. Just record it flat and that will really show what the guitar is doing.
Thank you !!!!

Oooooooooooooooo ... thanks.
......... a great idea.

Hummm ...

Does anyone know what the body wood is on that guitar?

ok found bateries for the pre amp. the notch filter really helps the "quack " but it is not perfect, i haven't benn playing in a while so i'll try to run through something easy

Listen, I truly mean no disrespect: That sound would be fine for a live situation, but I would never record with that tone. I love classical guitars because they sound so huge and nuanced. That clip sounds more like a nylon string simulation to me. I can appreciate the convenience of direct recording, but for my purposes anyway that sound just doesn't cut it.

If it works for you though, brilliant -- don't let me rain on your parade  :icon_thumright:
