White Mahogany / Black Grain?

Starting to research finishing options for my next build.  It will be a hollow-body VIP with two f-holes, mahogany/mahogany.  It will be built to be my jazz guitar and for whatever reason I'm currently stuck on having it white...however I hate the idea of losing the grain.  (also, I'm choosing mahogany for tonal reasons)

So my idea is to bleach the body, then use whitewash/pickling stain to get the desired shade of white, and then grain fill with black or some dark filler.  I won't be going for a pure white color, any sort of off-white shade will work.

Would this work to get the desired effect?

I absolutely plan to test on scrap wood first, but I figured check here first for advice/suggestions in case I'm heading down a dead end....

Cheers.

Tonar did something similar for Max:  http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=15742.0

Used mahogany grain filler, not black, but it's sure a fine axe.

Wow, that's pretty darn close to what I'm going for.  Maybe just a bit whiter on the body, and the grain definitely darker so it stands out some more.

That really is a beautiful finish though.
