Hi,
Just wondering which kind of neck woods and fingerboards woods look nice with  a brightly coloured body.
E.g. a honey burst body.    :glasses10:
Thanks,

Mmm, a bubinga fretboard jumps out to me as something that would look good on honeyburst  :icon_thumright:

Depending on what you want tone/feel-wise, my recommendations would be a:
-Goncalo, canary, pau ferro, rosewood, maple, or bubinga neck
-Bubinga, rosewood, pau ferro, maple, or kingwood fingerboard

Others would work too, bloodwood might even look really cool if there's red at the edge of the burst, the only thing that would completely clash (to me) would be purple heart

*Disclaimer: I haven't personally tried any of the exotics, I'm just talking aesthetically

I would think that against a honey burst body, you could put just about anything and it would look good. But, if it was me, I'd be looking at an Ebony fretboard and your choice of neck meat. If it fits your budget, Ebony over Pau Ferro is just about as sexy a neck as you'll ever play. They look great and feel magical.

Ok, thanks, I'll bare that in mind.  :glasses10:
This is the only pau ferro/ebony neck on the market right now: http://www.warmoth.com/Showcase/ShowcaseNeck.aspx?i=TN6529&Body=1&Path=Neck

That's a very nice-looking piece of Pau Ferro, but I'm not sure I'd want that Ebony. With a fancy body, you want a plain neck, and vice-versa. Otherwise, the thing looks too busy. Think of pants/shirts/ties. It's all about focus and where the eye is drawn.

It's about a 20% premium to get a custom built part, but sometimes it's worth it. I know you'd love the Pau - it's a very dense, close-grained and smooth wood and for the extra it costs, you save throwing $100 at a finish, since it doesn't require one. Highly recommended.

You're fine mixing patterns on pants/shirts/ties, so long as the patterns are on a different scale to each other :)

Nice neck. Has anyone tried staining ebony pure black? That might work?

I dyed an ebony plate cover black with the black dye from Stewmac and it worked just fine.  However that was just a plate cover.  Don't think I would do it with a fingerboard.  Just order the jet black ebony and you don't have to mess with dying a nice fingerboard.
